The Nutty Kentuckian

Nutty kentuckian main

A Nutty Kentuckian isn’t hard to find and you know who you are, but today I’m talking about a sweet nightcap. This is the favorite digestif of a favorite nutty friend from Kentucky, he whose name shall remain unknown.

This, is a smooth and decadent evening cocktail that you deserve to experience.

Who Created the Nutty Kentuckian?

Imagine a cocktail that’s as indulgent as a malted milkshake but with a bold, spirited twist. Its origins may be as elusive as a glass noodle, but its inspiration is clear—a spin on the classic Nutty Irishman. What sets this version apart is the addition of Kentucky bourbon cream, specifically the heavenly Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream.

I first discovered this rich, velvety elixir during a visit to the distillery and instantly fell in love. Its potential was obvious, and pairing it with hazelnut liqueur was a natural step. While I doubt I’m the first to try this delicious combination, I might just be the first to give it a name. Even all-knowing Google and Wikipedia, have yet to catch on. Strangely enough, neither has the Buffalo Trace website—but trust me, this luxurious blend is unforgettable.

Alternate Uses for Bourbon Cream

This is my favorite nightcap, over rocks or as a shooter, but you may substitute this for any recipe that calls for Irish cream. It’s delicious in a “Kentucky Coffee” and in a Buffalo Float, another favorite combo with root beer. You’re welcome!
