Classic Italian tomato sauce with olive oil, garlic and basil

Ingredients

1/4 cup olive oil
6 large garlic cloves- peeled and smashed
(2) 28-ounce cans whole san Marzano tomatoes – roughly chopped
1/4 tsp sea salt – plus more to taste
1/4 cup minced fresh basil, oregano, parsley or combination of the three
Instructions
In a large pot over medium, heat the olive oil until shimmering. Add garlic cloves and sauté until lightly browned, about 3–4 minutes, then remove the garlic with a slotted spoon and discard
Reduce to medium low heat and add the tomatoes and salt. Use an immersion blender to blend the sauce to a rough consistency, leaving some texture
Bring the sauce to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, stirring occasionally until the sauce has thickened – about 15 minutes. Taste and add salt if needed
