One Night in Bangkok is a tribute to the bold, irresistible flavors of Thai cuisine—where the interplay of caramelized sweetness and fiery heat creates magic on the palate. This cocktail captures that essence with a masterful balance of sugar and spice, taming the intensity of Thai chilies into a nuanced, flavorful symphony.
The foundation of this drink is aged tequila, whose smooth, oaky warmth provides depth and complexity. It’s complemented by a house-made Thai chili syrup, lime, and ginger, which add brightness, spice, and a touch of zing. The result is a cocktail so captivating that one sip inevitably leads to another—it’s impossible to put down.
But the story behind One Night in Bangkok is just as compelling as the drink itself. I created this recipe inspired by a hazy, hilarious tale shared by a former Navy SEAL about his unforgettable escapade in Bangkok. Every time I make the chili syrup, his story plays in my mind—a mix of laughter, adventure, and just a hint of chaos.
The ingredients for this cocktail never seem to last long, which is no surprise given its addictive allure. I’m constantly finding myself searching for an excuse to whip up another batch of syrup, just so I can relive the story and share the experience of One Night in Bangkok with others. This drink isn’t just a nod to Thai flavors—it’s a toast to the kind of nights that leave a lasting impression. Print
