Our dinner at Decade – Louisville began by re-connecting with Chef Andy Myer. He and business partner Matt were the driving force at Decca, a favorite haunt until its final closure last year. Their new restaurants name is a nod to Decca, but now they have control of their own destiny.
From my perspective they have turned a familiar space, formerly Butchertown Grocery into their own stylish digs with friendly, attentive service and the expected excellent food.
Our Evening at Decade – Louisville
I purposely arrived early to have a cocktail at the bar. Bartender Sam read my mind and served me a cocktail called Happy Together. The tequila, mezcal, contratto, bell pepper and lime was soothing and delicious. That and lively conversation got us off to a terrific evening.
Chef brought out a freshly baked focaccia to tide us over until our guests arrived, while I savored a Blind Pig.
One of our mains was this perfectly cooked to order filet with blistered cherry tomatoes, hummus and Calabrian chili crisp.
Two of us chose the porchetta with charred onion, fennel, honey and watercress.
Our table chose the mushrooms in black garlic sauce served family style.
A butterscotch budino, pudding, whipped cream and toffee crisp finished the evening. From here it was on to Tartan House and you can read about that later.
