Robin Leach famously signed off his iconic show Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with the phrase “Champagne Wishes,” introducing millions to the opulence of celebrity lifestyles. His pioneering series paved the way for countless shows spotlighting the extravagant lives of the elite. Fortunately, you don’t need a celebrity budget to enjoy this sparkling indulgence—and that just might leave room for your own “caviar dreams.”

Champagne Wishes

Few drinks elevate the mood like a sparkling cocktail, offering a touch of glamour to any occasion. This recipe begins with a base of rich, smooth cognac, enhanced by a sugar cube and a dash of bitters for balance. When topped with brut champagne, the result is a stunningly festive, elegant, and utterly delicious sipper.

Alternate Versions

While high-end champagne is always welcome, it’s not essential for this cocktail to shine. In fact, you might want to save your Dom Pérignon or Krug for sipping solo, as the cognac and bitters will mask the subtle complexities of luxury bubbles. Instead, opt for a solid brut champagne, sparkling white wine, or even prosecco. These alternatives still deliver the celebratory sparkle and pair beautifully with the rich, layered flavors of the drink.

This cocktail proves that a touch of sophistication doesn’t have to come with a sky-high price tag. Raise your glass and toast to living the dream—on your own terms.
