The Nutty Kentuckian
A nutty Kentuckian isn’t hard to find and you know who you are, but today I’m talking about a sweet nightcap. This is the favorite digestif of a favorite nutty friend from Kentucky, he whose name shall remain unknown.
This is a smooth and decadent evening cocktail that you deserve to experience.
Who Created the Nutty Kentuckian?
My best description compares it to a malted milkshake, but it’s origin is as transparent as a glass noodle. It’s a derivative of the nutty irishman, but I will claim naming rights and the good sense to use Kentucky bourbon cream. Seriously, I discovered Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream at the distillery and fell in love, again. The possibilities for this delicious elixir were immediately evident and I made the connection. While unlikely to be the first to try this combination with hazelnut liqueur, I may be the first to name it. Neither google nor wiki have heard of it and we all understand they know everything. It’s hard to believe, but even the Buffalo Trace website fails to mention this luxurious combination.
Alternate Uses for Bourbon Cream
This is my favorite nightcap, over rocks or as a shooter, but you may substitute this for any recipe that calls for irish cream. It’s delicious in a “Kentucky Coffee” and in a Buffalo Float, another favorite combo with root beer. You’re welcome!
