Restaurant Anne, created by Mathieu Pacaud, is nestled within the Hotel Pavillon De La Reine at Place des Vosges, once the residence of Queen Anne, wife of Louis XIII. It’s the perfect choice for our first night in Paris, promising an intimate and memorable dinner in the library.
Dinner at Restaurant Anne
The menu here is Michelin starred and tightly curated. There are only a few choices for each course on a given evening, but changes frequently. This allows the kitchen to take advantage of the freshest available ingredients.
Dinner began with a series of small bites and amuse bouche before diving into the starters.
The four available starters are mallemort asparagus, vegetables bouquet, golden caviar and our choice of Royal Langoustine. The langoustine is prepared with steamed leeks and langoustine head juice with curry.
The choice of mains presented me with the greatest conundrum of the evening. John dory, my favorite fish and Brittany blue lobster were available, but I chose the royal pigeon. It is perfectly cooked with honey ginger carrots in a bonito infused port sauce.
Desserts
The cheese course and a raspberry white chocolate creation were two of our four choices, but couldn’t do more than tempt us. We both had a craving for chocolate and this soufflé scratched the itch.
A final sweet course, dulce de leche with giandura cream and caramelized pecan nuts
Dinner comes to an end with madeline, lemon tart and chocolate petit fours. Kudos to Chef Pacaud and his team for a memorable meal!
