Painkiller For Two

Painkiller Cocktail

The Painkiller For Two is known for its lush, tropical flavors—a smooth blend of coconut cream, pineapple juice, orange juice, and rum. On paper, it doesn’t seem excessively strong, but here’s the twist, many bars amp up the recipe with double or even triple the standard pour of rum. The creamy coconut and sweet juices work wonders at masking the alcohol, making it dangerously easy to overindulge. Before you know it, more than one of these “turbocharged” Painkillers can leave you reeling.

The Tricky Trademark

If you’re familiar with my Derby Day pie recipe, you know trademarks can be a tricky business. Pusser’s Rum owns the trademark for the Painkiller name but graciously allows its use as long as their rum is specified in the recipe. Lucky for us, their rum is a perfect match for this cocktail, so no complaints here! It’s the star ingredient in my favorite version, the Painkiller for Two.

A Story That Stays Secret

Everyone who loves a Painkiller has a story about one too many. I could share mine, but let’s just say it involves a memorable anniversary dinner, a certain someone, and an unexpected end to the evening. If you know, you know—and if not, well, some stories are best left untold.
